TELL ME ABOUT PL!

A BASIC PERSONAL INTRODUCTION

PL's Unique Spiritual Power

Several things before going on, first, PL always encourages our spiritual growth if this is what we want. Oshieoya-sama would like to have more PL members with a high spiritual state of mind.
Second, all PL members are under Oshieoya-sama's protective spiritual power. This means he is responsible to God for all of us. For this reason, one has to be a PL member to enjoy all the benefits the Church offers.

Incidently, one does not have to give up another faith to join PL. Even at the Ottawa Church, we have members who are also Catholic, Protestant and members of the Russian Orthodox Church.

To explain PL's unique, powerful "Oyashikiri Prayer," the movements we make in performing it and the word Oyashikiri, were received from God by the previous Oshieoya-sama. After praying for a number of years for a unique prayer form and a word which would immediately reach to God, these suddenly came to him through his intuition. The hands above the head movement of the prayer form, is similar to the prayer of the Tibetan monks, while the position of the hands together under the chin with the head slightly bowed, is common to many of the world's religions.

The word "Oyashikiri," even uttered separately from the prayer form itself, is used by PL members the world over, when they face difficulties. Repeating Oyashikiri out loud or in our minds, has a calming effect. It has also been known to save the lives of numerous PL members in dangerous situations over the years.

It is very important for new PL members to learn the PL Oyashikiri Prayer and to use it daily. I personally pray the Oyashikiri Prayer after I do the Morning Prayer each morning, to ask for God and Oshieoya-sama's blessing throughout the day. And then again in the evening, before doing my Evening Prayer, to give thanks for the things that have happened during the day. Even if negative things have occurred, I give thanks that I have had the opportunity to learn through them.

Quite often my wife and I will do the Oyashikiri Prayer for other things as well, either together or separately, depending on whether they are for family or personal matters.
