A major PL contribution to the world is its unique "Mishirase"
concept. The term Mishirase (divine warning) refers to the illnesses,
misfortune, accidents, and the many other things that can happen to us.
Mishirase also include startling or unusual happenings. In PL we
learn to understand that these Mishirase are caused by our state of
mind. This does not mean that we consciously cause these things to happen.
Rather, these things happen as a consequence of the reflection of our state
of mind in the physical world. Members learn to understand more about this
the more they practice the PL teachings.
Interestingly, this understanding is now beginning to be supported worldwide by medical research in many areas. For example, it is now generally known that people with certain types of behaviour have a higher tendency of having cancer. Then there is the categorizing of people who have a propensity to have heart attacks into what a California group of researchers classified as type "A" behaviour.
There is also the medical research conducted in the relatively new field of
psycho-neuro-immunology, which examines how our immune system is affected by
our thoughts and behaviours, and how this is transmitted by the mind to
affect our level of resistance to illnesses.
PL medical research in Japan, which has been conducted over many decades,
has analysed the evidence from thousands of PL members' practice with the
Mishirase phenomena. The results now show what thoughts, states of
mind, and behaviours can cause particular human illnesses.
To explain about Mishirase more specifically, they are often something negative which has happened to us such as illness, misfortune, an accident, etc. and can include any of these things which occur to our spouse or children as well. It can also include something which is unpleasant or embarrassing. Members learn more about the specifics of Mishirase as they relate to them personally as they practice PL teachings.
In PL, we call Mishirase God's divine warning. What we mean is that
these things happen to us so that we can learn through them. Therefore, we
must learn to accept them positively, and if we do, our lives will improve.
A positive approach to everything negative permits us to improve and grow
as individuals. On the other hand, being negative and bitter about adverse
happenings in our lives retards our ability to improve, and usually causes
more negative happenings to occur. We learn through PL, that God intended
that Mishirase happen to us to teach us the correct path to follow --
not as a punishment. PL teaches that since God does not talk to us, this is
how human beings are taught to improve themselves. It's really teaching by
experience.
