TELL ME ABOUT PL!

A BASIC PERSONAL INTRODUCTION

Through Our Suffering We Can Learn and Improve

While a Mishirase is God's divine warning, a Mioshie is God's divine teaching. After having received a Mishirase, a member can request a Mioshie. These are personal, confidential teachings that are given to us to practice, so that we can change our thinking habits and behaviour to avoid having a recurrence of the Mishirase. Often we can recover from Mishirase by following the Mioshie. Even if the manifestation of the Mishirase is something like a chronic illness, blindness, deafness, etc., if we seriously and consistently follow the Mioshie with complete faith and sincere effort, often we will recover. There are thousands and thousands of cases of this having happened in PL. (Incidently, the words Mioshie and Mishirase can be either singular or plural. We don't add an "s" for more than one.)

A member requests a Mioshie through the minister or assistant minister as soon as the Mishirase is noticed. For example, if I'm doing some carpentry work around the home and accidently hit my thumb with a hammer I'm using, this is a Mishirase. I go to church as soon as possible and explain the incident to the minister or assistant minister. They will fill in a special half-page Mioshie form, describing what happened and send it to PL Headquarters at Tondabayashi Japan, just outside of Osaka. Within about six weeks I receive my Mioshie.

Only Oshieoya-sama and those ministers at a high spiritual level have the ability to receive these divine answers from God. What happens is that one of the ministers who performs this task, does a special prayer with my Mioshie request and intuitively the answer is received and is immediately written down.
These Mioshie are so personal that for any two people with the same Mishirase, the Moishie will only have a general similarity. The fact that each one of us is different, the Mioshie will relate to our own individuality and our personal situation. Taking the Mioshie for having hit my thumb with a hammer as an example, let's say that several members had this same Mishirase. The items listed in each of our Mioshie will reflect our own personal states of mind that caused us to hit our thumb. For one person it might relate to learning not to have a careless state of mind. While someone else who tends to do things with a hasty mind, always thinking about something they feel they should be doing, it will relate to changing this habit. Then again, for a third person, who doesn't work willingly and joyfully, it will advise them on how to overcome this type of thinking habit.

As you can see from this one simple example, the Mioshie will be different for different people, depending on their particular state of mind while using the hammer. For this reason, the Mioshie is very personal and is only to be shown to the minister or assistant minister to provide consultation on its contents.

It is important that when we receive a Mioshie, whether it's for a chronic disease or a minor Mishirase, that we always take it seriously with full appreciation, realizing that it was given by the grace of God. We must fully understand and appreciate this fact.

From my own experience of requesting Mioshie for the many Mishirase I have had, the answers I receive are often uncanny in their true reflection of exactly what my thinking habit was at the time the Mishirase occurred. For this reason, I have no doubt the answers came from God's realm. How else would my exact thoughts at the time be so well understood?

In PL, receiving and practicing Mioshie is the main way we can improve our lives. I've been in PL since 1981, and presently have over 80 Mioshie that I've requested over that 14 year period. As a result of praying and practicing several of my Mioshie every day, my life has improved dramatically. In fact, the lives of my whole family have improved as a result of my wife and I requesting and practicing Mioshie for our various Mishirase.

A very important precept we learn in PL is, " All is a mirror" (PL Precept no. 15). One of the things we learn through this precept, is that children are a direct mirror of their parents until about 14 years of age. My wife and I had trouble accepting this fact when we first joined PL. When we began requesting Mioshie for our children's illnesses and other problems however, the positive results were so rapid, we quickly learned that children are indeed a mirror of their parents' thoughts and behaviour.

One startling example, was demonstrated with our eldest son, who was 5 when we joined PL. Often he went into a blind rage that was so violent, that even at 4 years of age he once grabbed a kitchen knife and screamed at his mother: "I'm going to kill you! I'm going to kill you!" In fact, he might have killed a young friend on another occasion, if the large rock he heaved at him in a fit of rage had actually struck him.

The astounding thing however, is that after my wife and I received a Mioshie for this problem and began to seriously practice the personal teachings it contained, my son's anger has never again reached the same abnormal level. He may occasionally get angry, but it is always well within the normal range. This is but one example of the many we have had of children being a mirror of their parents. Even for things like coughs and earaches that our two sons had while growing up, we requested Mioshie. If these Mishirase reoccurred, all we did was to practice the Mioshie we previously received for the particular problem and miraculously the earache, headache, cough, stomach pain, etc. disappeared -- often immediately, at other times overnight. Consequently, my family has had very few visits to a doctor other than for periodic physical checkups.

So if we receive a Mioshie and follow it faithfully, obtaining consultation from the minister or assistant minister for further explanation, or if we are having trouble following it, we will eventually solve our Mishirase. Millions of cures have occurred for PL members over the years, because of requesting and following Mioshie for their own and their childrens' Mishirase.

Since we need our own Family Omitama before we can request Mioshie for serious and longtime Mishirase, it should be requested as soon as possible. My wife and I had ours within three months of joining PL, so that we could solve problems like my eldest son's abnormal anger. The reason for this, is that we need the spiritual strength obtained through the Family Omitama to overcome the causes of our Mishirase. We get this spiritual strength through the access the Omitama provides directly to Oshieoya-sama, God and our predecessors.
