TELL ME ABOUT PL!
A BASIC PERSONAL INTRODUCTION
Does PL Have a Holy Book?
In PL we do not have a holy book like the Bible or Koran, what we have though,
are the PL 21 Precepts which were received from
God by the Founders of the Church which preceded PL, and by the Second
Oshieoya-sama. These Precepts outline human existence in this world --
our situation and the potential God has given us as human beings. For example,
Precept No. 1, "Life is art,." means that God
expects us to live our lives as art. If we do, we will be going a long way
towards achieving the potential God has given us. Used in this way, "art"
can become a verb in the PL sense of the word. We "art our lives" means we
become creative, by moulding ourselves so that we achieve our greatest
potential as human beings. We also "art" the world around us to create a
better place for us all. Destroying the Earth, as we have been doing with
the environmental damage we have created, is not living life as art. Like
the world's great artists, we should also strive to create masterpieces of
our own lives. It really is up to us and PL assists us in achieving our
human potential -- to create better art of our lives.
As soon as I read the Precepts and had them explained to me upon joining PL,
I found they made perfect sense. They are one of the reasons I joined PL --
they have helped me understand the physical world and our human existence
within it, as God intended.
The PL 21 Principles support the Precepts and
tell us what we should be doing to lead more contented, fulfilled lives.
These are each explained in written form, on videos and on audio cassettes.
All new members are expected to become familiar with them.
