What is PL?

Compass of Life

The Church of Perfect Liberty (PL) is a totally independent, international religion founded in Japan, with roots that go back into the last century. It is not related to any other religion such as Christianity, Shintoism or Buddhism. Nevertheless, PL has no dogma or doctrine which contradicts the teachings of Christianity or any other church. Also, it has never requested that its members convert from another faith to join PL. If they wish, members can retain their previous faith.

To have PL faith means to have a compass or direction for our lives here and now. The most important thing in the world is us, ourselves, and our lives become truly enjoyable when we live them to the fullest, realizing our maximum potential.

People have always aspired to have freedom and have often fought for it. They have realized however, that true freedom is more than just acquiring freedom within the social structure. In modern times freedom of mind or personal freedom is rapidly growing in importance. We want both freedom within the social system, as well as within ourselves. True freedom therefore, is only achieved when both social and personal freedom co-exist together.

This unity of Self (mind) and the external World (society) are expressed in the basic PL Precept, "Life is Art." PL teaches us how to live with the understanding that "Life is Art," wherein God has given us our Self and all the materials we need in this world to be creative. In the combination of our Self (mind) and the World (matter), God has given us our own unique Self expressions, whereby we have the potential to create art of both ourselves and the things around us. PL helps us to live more enjoyable lives by showing us how to create better art through our own Self expressions.
